Emerging Technologies for Holistic Literacy in Adult Education (ETHLAE)
Implementation time: 1.12.2024-30.11.2026
Project information
The ETHLAE project explores emerging technologies, particularly from the perspective of how they can support the learning of holistic literacy.
Emerging technologies include, for example, AI-assisted learning, virtual and augmented reality, microlearning, gamification, robotics, smart learning environments, voice-assisted tools, and digital accessibility tools.
Although emerging technologies have been widely studied, they are not yet being used effectively enough in education — particularly in literacy and life skills programmes that support adult inclusion.
Key objectives of the project:
- To analyse, adapt and test methods to integrate emerging technologies into adult education and literacy programmes
- To support adult educators in designing and implementing holistic literacy programmes, with particular attention to vulnerable target groups
- To promote inclusion and diversity in adult education by improving the delivery of holistic literacy programmes for adults at risk of social exclusion
- To strengthen the capacity of adult educators by providing resources, training and support to integrate emerging technologies into educational offerings
- To develop teachers’ competences, particularly in teaching techniques, digital skills, and sustainability-related education. This will be done through peer learning and knowledge exchange among different stakeholders
- To support local adult education centres and innovative learning environments by piloting holistic literacy programmes that leverage emerging technologies
The ETHLAE project aligns with several EU priorities, such as the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan (DEAP).
